Going anywhere with you baby can be a stressful situation and the thought of putting them in the car is enough to give anyone anxiety because, unfortunately, many littles ones just hate the car. But often it's not always an option to not do it. Whether you need to drop or pick up other children from school, run errands, attend appointments etc you're going to have to strap your babe in at some point.

But there is good news! This is mostly a temporary situation, especially in the first few months. Eventually, most children will get used to being in the car and those times spent driving around with a screaming child in the background will become a distant memory. In the meantime, there are a few things that can be done to make a car ride a little easier.

Tips for taking your baby driving:
    • Check what your baby is wearing. For both safety reasons and for their comfort. An uncomfortable baby is never going to be settled in their seat so keep that in mind.
    • Check your straps are always flat and never twisted. Make sure that they aren't restricted and can move around a little bit.
    • Try and plan the time of the car ride around your little ones sleep or after the majority of their awake time. Even better if you can pop some white noise on in the background!
    • If you've got someone in the car with you, it would be great to have them sit n the back with bub to help keep them happy and get them used to being in the car.
    • Keep them occupied by popping a mirror in front of them or some car-safe toys that might grab their attention
    • Most importantly, remember that this phase will pass and you can get through it!
