That probably isn’t even your real name. We know for sure it isn’t ‘On The Rag.’ On this day, when we give thanks to everything, we wanted to give thanks to you.

Thank you for connecting us back to our bodies. This whirl of stories that we live in can take us really far away from the realities of being humans on this planet. When you arrive (okay, often not at the best times) you always put us back in our bodies. Even just for a second, you ground us.

Thank you for your once-a-month-ish clear out of dead cells and dead tissue and stagnant energy. Is there any way you can do this in other places?

Thank you for connecting us with other people who period. That connection is really important. If we really step into how big and powerful the community of everybody with periods is, we can shift the world. And we need it!

Thank you for reminding us that change doesn’t have to be scary. It just happens. It is the natural way of things.

Thank you for being a marker of our health. When you turn up, you remind us of our vitality, of our aliveness and our right to have an incredibly bad mood.

Thank you for connecting us to the force of creation. Even if we don’t have kids, you connect us to our creative power, which we need more than ever on the planet right now. Destruction cannot win.

Thank you for sticking with us. Some terrible stories have been told about you over the centuries - that you’re a burden, a sign of a lesser-than person, and that you’re something to be hidden and ashamed of. We hope you can see the positive change that is happening around that, so much so, that you may even be discussed over thanksgiving dinner tables this year. Ok. We might have to wait another year for that. But it’s coming…
