The Figurativas 2021 competition is back, welcoming individuals to the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona.

The Fundación de las Artes y los Artistas announced the 11th international contest for Figurative painting and sculpture 2021, endowing the first prize winner for painting with a reward of up to €36,000, a first prize for sculpture of €40,000, and a fund to be determined for the acquisition of plays.

The competition bring together the most recent figurative creation at an international level.

The participants, from more than 80 countries, gather at the MEAM, European Museum of Modern Art, every two years to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition of the finalist works.

Prior artists Antonio López García, Odd Nerdrum, Lita Cabellut, Emma Hopkins, Soledad Fernández, Luisa Granero, Jeremy Mann, Richard Estes, Gottfried Helnwein, Nicola Samorì, Daniel Graves, Jacob Collins, Alex Kanevsky, Konstantinos Kyrtis, Julio Lopez, Franciso López and Eduardo Naranjo.

Jury's for this year include Emma Hopkins, Antonio López, Jeremy Mann, Konstantinos Kyrtis, Tomas Paredes, Jose Enrique González, Jordi Diaz Alamà y Jose Manuel Infiesta.

Dr. Gindi, nominated for the competition, is one of Switzerland’s leading contemporary sculptors, with her work revealing the multiple levels of infinity inherent in our existence.

As a physician, she devoted her early career life to the health of individuals bodies.

Her three-dimensional sculptures are said to reflect the daily suffering of humans and the reclamation of infinity, and her work ‘The Fateful Choice’, will be exhibited at the museum from October to January of next year.
