    Bulbs for Our Bees!

There are over 250 bee species in the UK and they need our help! Bees play a vital role in the the pollination of food crops, in fact it is estimated that one third of the food we consume each day, relies on pollination by bees.   By reintroducing bee friendly spaces in urban and rural areas, we can help save our most vulnerable pollinators.

Make your garden an attractive habitat for bees. By planting pollinator friendly flowers you can provide our hard working little bees with a sweet, sugary, nectar which the bees depend on for energy. Select some of our spring blooming bulbs to offer the bees a rich food source after a long winter!

Get The Best From Your Bulbs...Follow these easy steps!

    1. Plant bulbs in a pot, window box, container or directly into the soil.
    2. Ensure the bulbs have good drainage and access to sunlight!
    3. Prepare and loosen the soil, place the bulb with roots down, pointy end up!
    4. As a general rule, plant 2 or 3 times as deep as the bulb is tall.
    5. Newly planted bulbs will be thirsty so give them a good watering!

    Pantelleria Bee Hotel

Some our bee species use Bee hotels in the most wonderful way to continue their life cycle. The bees first collect pollen and deposit it in the drilled holes. When they have collected enough, the queen bee lays an egg and covers the cell with a resin layer, before starting the process again with another breeding cell. When the eggs hatch, the pollen provides food for the young bee who then works its way out and flies away.

Place the Pantelleria Bee Hotel in a sunny part of your bulb planting area. The pollen-rich flowering plants will be a valuable source of food for your little Bee guests.
