After a showery May, it's lovely to finally have some warm summer sunshine! June's weather has been wonderful so far, and it's so refreshing to finally be able to get outside, soak up some rays and enjoy spending some time in the fresh air.
As the weather starts to heat up it's important that we don't forget about our garden birds and wildlife. Although the warmer weather is welcomed by many animals, long dry spells often result in our garden wildlife needing a helping hand to find reliable foods and fresh, clean water.
Now is a great time to start preparing your outdoor space so you're ready for any hot weather we will (hopefully!) have over the next few months! |

Long dry spells often leads to food shortage for garden birds due to the difficulty in finding fresh natural foods, especially if the ground becomes hard. Birds will then look to our feeding stations as a back up, which will result in our feeders becoming increasingly busy, especially with the arrival of new fledglings that will also be on the look-out for food. |

High protein foods are recommended for your garden birds during the summer months. Protein helps young fledglings develop, as well as supporting adult birds during their annual summer moult. Mealworms are a great source of protein, so look out for foods that contain these. |
