    North Korea sent military operatives to assassinate President Chun Doo-hwan in Rangoon, Burma 1983. They failed to kill Chun with a bomb but the blast killed 21 people and wounded 46 others. Two of the three attackers tried to commit suicide with a grenade but both survived with a arm missing each. One of the injured pair managed to kill three soldiers before being shot dead. The third was captured by a civilian and admitted to being a North Korean Army officer.
