    Give your Garden a Spring Feeding
    Adding compost to your garden a few times each year can make a huge difference to the health of your plants and the extent to which they fruit and flower. If you didn't get around to adding a layer of compost to your garden last fall, no worries - you can do it now in preparation for the growing season ahead. Here are our 3 tips for adding compost to your spring garden.
    1: Add a 3-4" layer of compost to garden beds before you add plants. work is gently into the top 1-2" of soil. 2: Add a 1" layer of compost around perennial plants, shrubs, and trees. Just let it sit on top of the soil, as working it in could damage plant roots. Also, take care to keep the compost away from plant stems and tree trunks to prevent rot. 3: Give your lawn some love with a 1/2" layer of compost too! You'll be amazed at how much healthier, greener and faster it will grow.
