Today was Apple’s biggest event of the year, the Worldwide Developers Conference, where the company announced its latest software for iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches.
The elephant in the room was that Apple has been working on a mixed reality headset for some time. Some journalists speculated that we'd see the headset. And while we didn’t, I’d argue that Apple tipped its hand on the next closest thing: I believe they shared a lot about how their headset will work.
Why? A slew of updates to the upcoming iOS 16 feel more like they were made for headsets than phones. From a clever way that Apple is mixing graphical information with human bodies, to new ways to use Siri, Apple appears to be future-proofing its UX so that, whenever their headset does show up, it has the software to make the experience work.
