| | I don’t remember the last time I saw my social media feeds as outraged as they were last night. I, like many people, tuned in for a Met Gala fashion fix. I, like many people, was blindsided by news that leaked out of the Supreme Court: An early draft of a decision showed the justices planning to overrule Roe v. Wade and, in doing so, end federal protection of abortion rights.
But by the time I woke up, people weren’t just protesting this decision in words; they were using pictures. Designers, artists, and illustrators stormed Instagram with visual rebuttals—what you might consider to be the makeshift protest signs for the digital age.
