    Color Psychology: Green Edition
    SPIRIT WORLD CANVAS SET

As we discuss often here at Canvas Freaks, art can transform our daily lives. Whether we are aware of it or not, our moods and emotions can be heavily influenced by the art that surrounds us. One of the most powerful components of art and its effect on us is color.

That’s why we’re introducing a brand new email series for the Canvas Freaks community: Color Psychology.

Color is an integral part of our daily lives. Based on a combination of evolutionary factors, past experiences, and cultural influences, color can have a major impact on our moods and even our energy levels! Harnessing the power of color can allow you to create the environment that serves you best, whether that’s in your bedroom, kitchen, or office.

Today, we’ll be tackling the color green.

Green is everywhere. It’s the most common color in nature, and we associate it with growth, health, and the environment.

Green is known to stimulate the pituitary gland, which regulates hormones. The color often leads muscles to relax and histamine levels to increase. This triggers a decrease in allergy symptoms and dilated blood vessels, which means that spending more time surrounded by green may actually help with those pesky allergies!

Green is also an important color in many different spiritual circles. It stands for balance, nature, spring, and rebirth. In Japanese culture, the color is associated with eternal life, and it is the sacred color of Islam. In American culture, it symbolizes progress, money, and the environment.

One only has to look around to see all of the ways we harness the positive associations of green in our society. Healthy food and eco-friendly products often use green packaging. Green lights are an instantly-recognized symbol to proceed. The color is associated with vitality, freshness, and wealth, making it ideal for advertising and decorating alike.

"He had that curious love of green, which in individuals is always the sign of a subtle artistic temperament, and in nations is said to denote a laxity, if not a decadence of morals.”
